Let’s go to Saint-André-les-Alpes to discover a village in the middle of a large plain and surrounded by mountains.
The village is located at an altitude of 900 meters and has a little more than 900 inhabitants, a beautiful coincidence!
At the confluence of the Issole and the Verdon, the village attracts many curious people and nature lovers.
A typical village with a Provencal look, the old store windows of the central street still appear and remind us of the very commercial past of Saint-André-les-Alpes, at the crossroads between the Verdon and the way to Nice.
The narrow streets of the village center will lead you to the church square where many restaurants have installed their terraces.
The most faithful inhabitants may tell you the story of the fountain in the Grand’Rue. Since 1790, the fountain has stood in the middle of the road and began to obstruct traffic. It was finally “cut in two and placed against the wall, three of its spouts being placed on the same side”.
The lake of Castillon
Borrow a bike or go for a walk (45 minutes) and go south of Saint-André-les-Alpes to the lake of Castillon, a good opportunity to refresh yourself. The supervised beach is accessible by a soft path on the banks. The Aquaventure water park will allow children to have fun in the floating inflatables. Hiking from Saint-André-les-Alpes
Located in the Verdon Regional Natural Park, the village offers many hikes. The most emblematic summit of the area is the Chalvet which culminates at 1613 meters. If you leave directly from the train station, it takes six hours to do the 14km loop that passes by the summit. Beware of the steep 832 meter difference in altitude which requires a good physical condition.
